Encouragement – A Source for Growth

Power of your positive words.

Have you ever heard of “dendrophiles“? It is a term used to describe people who are fond of trees. They like those green bunches of treasures, watch them grow and feel happy in that growth.

Those people eagerly wait for the seeds to sprout into leaves. Then they take special care, water them and nurture those plants with love.

Similarly, we too have the power to nurture someone’s growth, by encouraging their progress.

Encouraging is not always about giving mere compliments and not just the words of appreciation. Rather, a keen interest which you show towards their growth.

Though I have already written about this topic earlier, I would like to reiterate this again with a scientific study done in UAE.

IKEA, a Swedish furniture and home accessories brand, once conducted a study in a school. The students were asked to grow two plants and told to communicate with them using positive and negative words for 30 days.

The motive of this study was to show the impact of positive and negative words. While the constant negative comments led the plants to wilt, positive comments indeed helped the plants to thrive.

When these kinds of motivation can help plants to grow, imagine how your part in someone’s growth can help them to achieve their dreams.

You may be least encouraged, but always be an encourager who does wonders through words, to change others’ lives positively.
